Okay, thats good to know!

I was thinking we needed to get on SxSW quickly, but we wait till October. shy I guess getting there takes a lot of planning. Hotels book up quick.

I am in a band located outside of the USA. What do I need to know about showcasing? Hide

SXSW showcased over 400 international acts last year, so please apply. Our deadline for international artists to complete applications is October 24, 2008. You can apply via Sonicbids or the SXSW e-commerce system. If you apply through the SXSW website, your music and materials must be uploaded by the October 24th deadline date. We are aware of stringent visa and travel requirements, so we prioritize processing of international band applications.

Second question answered Edward - Page 4 320278

I've applied for a Music Festival showcase. How do I reserve hotel rooms for my act in case we're selected? Hide

Because over 10,000 artists apply for showcases, the SXSW Housing Desk cannot book hotel rooms for artists until they have been offered a showcase. DO NOT PANIC! The Housing Desk blocks enough hotel rooms to accommodate all showcasing artists who need them. There will be hotel rooms available for you and your bandmates when SXSW extends showcase invitations. Your acceptance email will contain details on how to book hotels.

If you purchase a conference registration, you can reserve a hotel room immediately; however, that registration fee is NONREFUNDABLE. No exceptions. If you want to purchase a registration, please wait until you have been notified of your showcase status. Artists who are not given a showcase will have the opportunity to purchase a SXSW Music registration at the lowest price for the season

Well, nothing for me to do here. dancing

Edward - Page 4 685318 I've discovered that there is a LEGAL Moonshine distillery here in VA, about 45 minutes away from me Edward - Page 4 508347 It's made the old way, and has 50% alcohol Edward - Page 4 950695 I want to send some to the Finns, you can't get more American than Moonshine Edward - Page 4 482538
Do any of you know what the rules and regulations on sending booze are?

I thought so too! I had some strawberry moonshine 2 years ago and was told not to eat the strawberries....so I ate the strawberries and completely blacked out! Edward - Page 4 363881 That is pure pain, my friends. Anyone else drank it before?

Eppu did okay FRR playing Edward. But I haven't listened to see if she is playing it. Edward - Page 4 871665

I really need to get on these stations Edward - Page 4 831385 It's bad karma not to Edward - Page 4 871665

Edward - Page 4 361461 After watching a show about Moonshine on the history channel I discovered a lot! Illegal moonshine is what the government can't tax and what is not regulated. Since it's a corn whiskey it's easy to make in the backwoods and can have some nasty stuff in it. This company sells "Virginia Lightning" which is regulated and taxed by the federal government Edward - Page 4 88735 It's still real cheap, like 15 for a pint or something stupid Edward - Page 4 22366
The home made stuff can have over 50% alcohol which can make it dangerous, and can have high levels of lead which can cause death, it also contains a metasomthing alcohol is what makes some people to go blind omg
I've never tried it legally, but it's foul stuff when it's homemade Edward - Page 4 98852 or the type I tried was, I'm eager to try the good stuff. The guy on the show says a little goes a long way Smile 100 proof baby!
We used to drink something like that in MO called Everclear, it was legal, you guys ever drink that? I think I'll move this post out of the Street Teaming thread, unless anyone wants to buy some VA Lightning and hand it out as a street team technique... let people get drunk and listen to the demo Edward - Page 4 78482

I guess that is why there were strawberries in the moonshine I had. To mask the nasty taste. I really was good! In San Antonio they have a Mexican restaurant called Baby A's and they serve Everclear margaritas. omg You're not allowed more then 2...and I'm hear to tell ya thats more then enough. I've also had cherry bombs made with Everclear. Its like breathing fire!
